All technologies • All sizes • Board-level capability
Every screen technology we service
From entry-level LED to premium OLED with technology-specific repair protocols
LED & LCD TVs
STANDARD TECHNOLOGYMost common TV format using LCD panels with LED backlight. Sizes from 32" to 75". Common across all major brands. Repairable at the component level for most failures.
- LED backlight strip failures (dim or dark sections)
- Power supply board capacitor failures
- T-CON board issues (lines on screen)
- HDMI port and input board service
OLED TVs
PREMIUM SEGMENTLG OLED, Sony Bravia OLED, Samsung S95 series. Self-emissive pixels — no backlight. Premium technology requiring specialized repair. Each pixel produces its own light.
- Burn-in mitigation and panel refresh
- OLED-specific T-CON failures
- Pixel error diagnostic and partial panel replacement
- Smart TV interface failures
QLED TVs
QUANTUM DOTSamsung QLED, Hisense ULED, TCL QLED, Sony Triluminos. LCD with quantum dot color enhancement layer. Higher complexity than standard LED but more reliable than OLED long-term.
- Quantum dot layer integrity testing
- Mini-LED backlight zone failures
- Color accuracy calibration after repair
- Local dimming controller service
Smart TVs
CONNECTED PLATFORMSAndroid TV, webOS (LG), Tizen (Samsung), Roku TV, Fire TV. Smart features add complexity — both software and hardware fault possibilities. Specialized service for connectivity issues.
- WiFi module replacement
- Firmware reset and re-flash
- Smart platform pairing issues
- App store and authentication problems
Plasma TVs
LEGACY TECHNOLOGYOlder Panasonic, LG, and Samsung plasma displays. Discontinued but many still in service. Specialized repair for known failure modes (Y-sustain, X-sustain boards).
- Y-sustain board failures (red flashes)
- X-sustain board service
- Buffer board replacement (vertical lines)
- Heat-related component degradation
Computer Monitors
OFFICE & GAMINGLCD, IPS, VA, and gaming monitors with high refresh rates. Curved monitors. Office and home computer displays. Same panel and electronics technology as TVs but compact form factor.
- DisplayPort and USB-C input service
- High-refresh-rate panel issues
- Curved monitor pixel problems
- Color calibration for professional displays
7 most common TV failures
Each failure requires technology-specific diagnostic — different for LED vs OLED vs QLED
Complete dead unit — no standby light, no response to remote or panel buttons. Unit appears electrically disconnected.
Power supply board failure (most common — typically capacitor failure). Internal fuse blown. Standby controller failure on main board. Power inlet socket damage.
Power inlet voltage verification. Standby voltage rail measurement. Capacitor ESR testing on power supply board. Component-level repair where possible (50-80% of cases) before recommending board replacement. Saves 60-70% vs board swap.
Audio plays normally but screen remains completely dark. Sometimes faintly visible image when shining flashlight at screen at angle. Common on LED TVs after 3-5 years.
LED backlight failure (most common on LED TVs — burned LED strips). Backlight inverter failure. T-CON board failure. Panel itself failed (rare). For OLED: panel-level failure (no separate backlight).
Flashlight test confirms backlight vs panel issue. LED strip current measurement, individual strip replacement, voltage rail verification. We carry stocked LED strips for top 30 TV models. Average cost 30-40% of dealer.
Colored lines (typically green, red, or white) running vertically or horizontally across screen. May fade in/out or be permanent. Sometimes screen splits into halves with different brightness.
T-CON board failure (most common). LVDS cable damaged or loose. Panel chip failure (irreparable in many cases). Connection between T-CON and panel oxidized.
Pressure test on T-CON connectors first (often resolves intermittent). T-CON replacement with OEM board. LVDS cable inspection and replacement. Honest assessment if panel is failed and replacement isn't economical for the unit value.
Smart features fail — WiFi won't connect or drops frequently. Apps freeze, crash, or won't open. Slow interface response. Picture and basic TV functions work normally.
WiFi module hardware failure. Outdated firmware. Smart platform memory full (cache buildup). Specific app incompatibility after platform update. Smart board (separate from main board on some models) failure.
Factory reset with cache clearing first (resolves 30%). Firmware update or rollback. WiFi module signal strength test, replacement if hardware issue. Platform-level diagnostic. We service Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Android TV, Roku, Fire TV platforms.
"No Signal" message on certain inputs. HDMI ports not detecting source devices. Snowy picture from antenna. Some inputs work, others don't.
HDMI port physical damage from cable strain. HDMI input controller IC failure. Tuner module failure (antenna/cable inputs). External cable issue (often misdiagnosed). HDCP handshake failure with source device.
Test all HDMI ports with known-good source. HDMI port reflow or replacement. Input board service. Tuner module replacement. We replace damaged HDMI ports rather than full input boards where possible.
Picture displays with wrong colors — green tint, red dominance, washed-out colors. Sometimes negative/inverted picture. Color issues that resist menu adjustment.
T-CON board partial failure. LVDS cable bent pins (causing missing color signals). Panel-level pixel issue. Quantum dot layer degradation (QLED). Color management firmware corruption.
Service menu access for advanced color settings. T-CON replacement. LVDS cable straightening or replacement. Color calibration with reference patterns. Honest assessment when panel is the failure.
TV powers off without warning during use, then restarts. Sometimes goes into endless restart loop. May happen more frequently when watching certain content.
Power supply voltage rail instability. Overheating triggering thermal protection. Capacitor failure causing voltage drops. Firmware crash. Faulty timer setting.
Voltage rail monitoring during operation. Heat sink and fan service for thermal issues. Capacitor ESR testing and replacement. Firmware update or factory reset. Sleep timer verification (often the cause when overlooked).

6 practices to extend TV lifespan
Avoid extreme temperatures
Keep TV between 10-35°C. Avoid mounting near heat sources, in direct sunlight, or in unconditioned rooms. Heat is the #1 cause of capacitor failure and backlight degradation.
Clean with proper materials
Use only microfiber cloth and TV-specific screen cleaner. Never use paper towels, glass cleaner, or alcohol on OLED. Disconnect power before cleaning.
Use a quality surge protector
Power surges destroy more TVs than any other cause. Quality surge protector (1500+ joules) is the best protection investment. Replace surge protectors every 3-5 years.
Avoid static images on OLED
OLED is susceptible to burn-in from static images (news tickers, gaming HUDs). Limit continuous static content to 4 hours, use screen savers, vary content types.
Optimize picture settings
Showroom-bright defaults stress backlights and shorten LED life. Set brightness 60-80% for normal viewing. Use ambient light sensor where available.
Power off rather than standby
For long absences (overnight, vacation), unplug rather than standby. Reduces electrical wear, eliminates surge risk, and saves power.
